Regulators in New York and Michigan recently banned such offerings. Speaking during a keynote interview last week at the American Gaming Association’s G2E conference in Las Vegas, the two CEOs were asked about their concerns around DFS operators Prize Picks and Underdog, which have emerged as competitors in the category by allowing users to pick whether a player would go over or under on a stat - for example, Patrick Mahomes over or under 275.5 yards passing on Sunday - and combine two to five of those picks to create longer odds and larger payouts. FanDuel CEO Amy Howe and DraftKings CEO Jason Robins have both called on state gambling regulators to either clamp down on daily fantasy sites offering games that mimic prop and parlay betting, or open the door for legal sportsbooks to offer those bets outside of regulation and taxation levels that their DFS counterparts don’t face.
